Space Invader

Space Invader, a reference illustration of the classic phenotype rather than a photograph of one coral

Mycedium, a chalice. Beginner to keep, typical PAR 75–150, moderate flow.

Also sold as Space Invader Chalice, Space Invader Mycedium.

A loose trade name. Sellers use it loosely, so trust the photo over the label.

Collector tier: common, where the trade ranks it from common through grail. In stock at 21 surveyed shops on 2026-10-19.

A Mycedium sold as a chalice: a bright green coral with yellow eyes that encrusts first and then grows out into a wide, flat plate. Three growers describe it the same way and call it fast-growing, and one says it fluoresces strongly under actinic light.

Before you buy one

Green plate, yellow eyes. One shop's care page gives green eyes on a mottled purple-black plate, and orange eyes in its own FAQ, so judge the photograph rather than that page. The same name is on a different coral, the Space Invader Pectinia (Pectinia alcicornis), neon green with yellow mouths but built of thin fluted blades and spires: a Space Invader that branches is that one. Growers call it aggressive, so give it room.

Keeping chalices

Low light and gentle flow, where nothing can sweep it. Space Invader is beginner to keep at a typical PAR of 75–150 in moderate flow. A typical starting range for this type of coral, not measured on this one.
