A staghorn Acropora, A. yongei, that grows as a dense thicket of short cylindrical branches with a tubular axial corallite standing well proud of the tip and uniform tubular radials with flaring lower lips. In the wild it is cream, yellow or pale brown; the trade strain is a flat neon yellow-green over the whole colony, polyps included, with no second colour anywhere. It grows faster than almost any other acro in the hobby, on the order of an inch or two of new branch a month in a settled system.
One colour, and a lot of slime. Handle it and it sheds strings of mucus, which is where the name comes from and which a Green Slimer produces more readily than any lookalike. Direct laminar flow makes it do the same thing as a stress response, so a colony that is always slimy is a colony pointed at a pump. A green staghorn with a second colour on the tips or in the polyps, or one that stays tidy when touched, is some other green acro sold under the easier name.
