A Seriatopora with short, thin, bumpy branches that are light green and end in pink tips. The corallites are raised enough to give the branches a ridged feel, and the polyps are small and easy to miss. It is kept for the two colours, green body and pink tips.
Two colours, in their places: green along the branch, pink only at the tip. An ordinary Birds Nest is pink or cream throughout. Strong light fades the green toward cream, so a pale frag may be placement rather than a different coral. The line began with one colony collected at Ponape, now Pohnpei, in 2003 and sold by Reef Farmers as a limited edition; ORA has grown it in bulk since 2011. One farm warns the name has since been put on several different corals, so a frag that is not green with pink tips is not this one, whatever the label says.
Less light than an acro, more flow than anything, and nothing touching it. Ponape Birdsnest is intermediate to keep at a typical PAR of 100–250 in moderate to high flow. A typical starting range for this type of coral, not measured on this one.
