A large-polyp zoa with a bright purple, stormy face and a neon green skirt that can read yellow-green under some lights. One farm describes a thin dark ring at the edge of the purple, and another says the centre runs purple to pink.
Look at the mouth. A Purple People Eater also carries a purple face over green skirts on big polyps, but its mouth is bright neon green; here the purple runs to the centre. The name is older than the zoa: the Purple Monster of the 1990s is Tyree's Acropora from the Solomon Islands, and a chalice and a mushroom carry it too, so read the type word on a listing before the colour. Several farms grow their own under their own prefix.
