The plain purple form of Stylophora pistillata: solid purple through the body and polyps, on the species' broad, blunt-ended branches that grow into a rounded, bushy colony and thicken as it ages. The colour moves with the tank, pink under low nutrients and deeper purple under more, which is why two frags from two systems can read as two corals. In the wild the species runs cream, pink, blue and green and lives on exposed reef in strong water, which is what the flow requirement is repeating.
Solid colour to the tip, on a stubby branch. Against a Milka the difference is the growth points: a Purple Stylophora has none of the white contrast at the tips, and a purple coral that does is being sold under the cheaper name or the dearer one depending on the shop. Against a Birds Nest, thickness: a Stylophora branch is blunt and thick where a Seriatopora tapers to a point. The pink-versus-purple question is nutrients, not lineage, and no shop can promise which you will get.
Less light than an acro, more flow than anything, and nothing touching it. Purple Stylophora is intermediate to keep at a typical PAR of 200–350 in high flow.
