A branching Montipora that encrusts first, then sends up bumpy, ridged branches, and can plate out when light is low. The skin is purple to lavender blue under a dense coat of large neon lime-green polyps, fuzzy when they are out, and new growth runs a paler blue-lavender.
Green polyps on purple branches; every other blue-bodied branching Montipora in the book carries orange or red polyps. Under low light the brown pigment takes over and only the lavender ridges and green polyps show, so a brownish frag with green polyps can still be this one. The name honours hobbyist John Susbilla, known as Tubs, and was first sold as Tubs Lavender and Green Montipora Stellata; the extra b crept in later. Hardy, fast, and cheap for what it is.
