A purple mat that sends up bright green polyps, each an eight-tentacle star around a white centre, spreading over any surface it touches. New polyps appear first as white points in the advancing purple.
It will take the tank. Keep it on an island rock with a sand moat, or accept it as a background. On the name: shops and older books say Pachyclavularia, which is a superseded synonym of Briareum, and the old species name is considered invalid on top of that. A listing under either genus is not wrong so much as out of date, and nobody in the trade will correct you for saying Pachyclavularia.
Forgiving of most placements, and it moves water on its own. Green Star Polyps is beginner to keep at a typical PAR of 50–150 in moderate to high flow.
