A soft coral built like a small tree, a thick trunk carrying branches, which propagates by dropping those branches to settle and root elsewhere.
Before you buy one
Usually given away rather than sold, and for good reason: the dropped branches land and root all over the tank. Flow decides how far they get, so a spot with gentler current limits the spread rather than encouraging it. Note also that the trade uses 'Nephthea' loosely for almost any tree-shaped softie; it is a separate genus in the same family, so the two names get swapped around and a listing under either is not proof of much.
