Azooxanthellate: bright orange or yellow polyps that carry no symbiotic algae at all and get everything they need from food. In the wild they extend long tentacles at NIGHT to catch zooplankton, and a newly arrived one often keeps that habit for a while.
Before you buy one
Light is irrelevant to it. This animal must be target-fed, forever: every other day keeps it alive, daily grows it, and a pipette to each polyp works better than broadcasting. Everything else about it is easy; that one thing is why they die. A new one that stays shut all day is usually still on its night schedule rather than failing, so try feeding after lights out before concluding anything.
